The party chairman John Mbadi said President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto should prepare for mass action in August if polls will not be credible and transparent.

“Let them know that we are bound to call Kenyans for mass action if they try to rig the election in August,” Mbadi told the Nation on Thursday.

The Gwasi MP added: “We want a country where elections are held freely and transparently without undermining any opponent.”

ODM party leader and NASA co-principal, Raila Odinga, has constantly warned Jubilee government that the forthcoming polls will only be peaceful if they are conducted in a transparent and credible manner.

“If Jubilee or NASA wins or loses the elections, we should accept the results for the sake of peace. However, let nobody rig the elections because there will be no peace,” said Raila during a recent burial ceremony in Kakamega county.

The August presidential polls are expected to be hotly contested after the opposition formed an alliance to oust Jubilee regime.

On Wednesday, a Judiciary Committee on Elections member Justice Mbogholi Msagha said Kenyans have the right to protest after the August 8 election.

He said the Constitution guarantees freedom to picket but clarified that it should be within the precincts of the law.
