The Orange Democratic Movement has revived spirited campaigns in its traditional bedrock of Nyanza with only two months to elections.
Following shoddy party primaries in April, the ODM party is facing reality as rival NASA parties and independents threaten to ‘eat’ into its stronghold.
Recently, party leader Raila Odinga was subjected into verbal attacks from a section of his followers after he distanced himself from independent candidates.
“The party comes first and we appeal to locals to come out and vote party candidates,” said Gladys Wanga, who is leading the campaigns.
“We may have had our own challenges but sometimes it is important to stand with the party. I call upon you to unite behind the party,” added Oburu Oginga, who is also leading the campaigns.
The two leaders launched ODM campaigns in Nyanza at Kaspul on Sunday and urged supporters to stand with the party.
Hundreds of disgruntled ODM members ditched the party for to run as independents after accusing the party of holding shoddy primaries.
