The Orange Democratic Party has backed plans to create the Prime Minister position.
A bill is currently being proposed byTiaty MP Kassait Kamket' that seeks to introduce the premier position and two deputies.
"We want it harmonised in such a way that the President is not only ceremonial but also retains the role of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. ODM was one of the first to propose such a parliamentary system of democracy akin to the United Kingdom, but later dropped it. We may have to revisit it," Mbadi is quoted by The Standard.
Mbadi stated that the office of the Prime Minister however the office should not assume all key executive functions.
The proposal has been strongly been opposed by Deputy President William Ruto who argues that the country cannot return to the campaign mode after a long electioneering period in 2017.
