Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina has faulted opposition leader Raila Odinga's calls for the establishment of a three-tier government system.
Speaking on NTV's AM Live show on Monday, the opposition lawmaker poked holes into the constitutional amendment push terming it untimely.
The senator urged the National Super Alliance (NASA) leader and his supporters to instead support the current devolution system whose implementation started only five years ago.
''I do not support Raila Odinga's three-tier government system proposal. Our devolution system is still in its childhood stage and we need to give it more time after which we will conclude on whether it is effective or not. It is only then that we will be able to decide to either keep or discard it,'' said the Senator.
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) member, however, threw his weight behind the ongoing push for changes in the top leadership structure but stressed on the need for the inclusion of all leadership players to avoid future constitutional shortcomings and wrangles.
''I am, however, in support of the push to extend the executive but it should only be done after consultations with other political players, including the opposers led by Deputy President William Ruto,'' he added.
The amendment seeks to introduce a powerful Prime Minister post, with the president given ceremonial duties.
