Sugow says that Haji’s time in politics is up and that he should prepare to exit.
Addressing supporters in Garissa Town on Wednesday, the ODM senator hopeful said he is the suitable candidate to represent the local’s interest in the senate.
Sugow slammed Haji, claiming that the former defense minister has failed to champion for the locals interests.
The aspirant stated that the county needs an energetic and focused senator to push the interests of the people forward.
“My friend Haji should prepare for political retirement because he has done little to promote the interests and welfare of the residents as senator,” he said.
The ODM hopeful pleaded with residents to endorse his bid promising to lobby for more county funding. He said that the funding from the national government is not sufficient to run development projects.
The aspirant also promised to push for employment creation, security and equal distribution of national resources if elected.
The Garissa senatorial seat has attracted several candidates with the incumbent seeking re-election on a Jubilee ticket.
Haji recently dismissed off claims that he is too old for re-election, saying that he is fit for another term.
Other candidates eyeing Haji’s seat are Idris Abdikadir vying on Narc Kenya party, Yusuf Isse Abdi contesting on Wiper ticket, Mohamed Karur vying on Kanu ticket and Ahmed Noor Salat contesting on Thirds Way Alliance party.
