Taita-Taveta Senator Dan Mwazo, today joined Jubilee Party on the day President Uhuru Kenyatta was launching and inspecting development projects in the County.

President Kenyatta commended the senator for his bold move and urged other local leaders to emulate him so that they can join the team that works for the people.

The senator has been an ODM member.

President Kenyatta called on Taita-Taveta residents and all Kenyans to support the Jubilee administration saying the opposition chief Raila Odinga is a leader who thrives in propaganda and deceit.

He castigated the opposition leader for moving around the country spreading propaganda and divisive politics, which add no value to Kenyans.

The President said Jubilee has achieved a lot in the past four years, and pointed out that the achievement is visible to all, including the government’s critics.

“It is wrong for the opposition leader, who has been a prime minister, to claim that Jubilee has done nothing. It would be better if he acknowledged the efforts of the Government, but add that if given the opportunity he would do more,” said the President.

The President was speaking in Bura Mission and Mwatate trading centre, Taita-Taveta County, when he launched the rehabilitation of the 56km Bura-Mghange-Werugha-Mbale-Msau-Mtwamwagodi road.

The President also inspected the Sh2.3 billion tarmacking of Voi-Mwatate-Wundanyi road.

The President asked the people of Taita-Taveta to support the government because it has plans to improve water provision and also build the county headquarters.

He said his government is in the process of initiating Sh30 billion phase two of Mzima springs water project, which will cater for the residents of Voi and Mwatate areas.

The President pointed out that the government will set aside Sh800 million to buy 200 acres of land from Mwatate Sisal Estate on which it will put up the county headquarters.

He said the sisal company has agreed to sale the land and it is only a matter of time before the process is complete.

On the rehabilitation of the Bura Mission-Mtwamwagodi road, President Kenyatta said once the project is completed local residents would be able to transport their produce to the markets on time apart from attracting investors to put up industries within the region.

The President said the Standard Gauge Railway project which is in its final stages would greatly benefit the residents of Taita, as the company has already build a  big station at Voi.

“There will be an inland container deport and the export processing zone in Voi with which investors would be processing their products and transport them to Mombasa for export. This will mean creation of job opportunities to the local youth,” said President Kenyatta.

Deputy President William Ruto called on Taita-Taveta residents to stop gambling with their future and support Jubilee party for development.

“You have no reason again to play about with your future in the next elections, cast your votes in support of Jubilee so that we can form the government together” said the Deputy President.

The Deputy President said the Jubilee Administration has already spent Sh 800 million for modern medical equipment in Voi and Taveta hospitals respectively.

He said through the Managed Equipment Services (MES) the government has put up modern ICU’s, Laboratories, Renal units and Ex-rays among other diagnostic kits to ensure residents get the best health services.

Senator Mwazo said Jubilee had fulfilled its pledges to the residents of Taita-Taveta and the party is the only vehicle which can guarantee more development in the county.

He told the residents not to support parties that have no agenda for them, and instead support Jubilee.

“We should not support parties which have no interest of improving our livelihoods, we should vote and support a party which has our interests at heart,” said Senator Mwazo

Also present were Taita-Taveta and Kwale Governors John Mruttu and Salim Muvrya respectively, local Mps, Mca’s among other leaders.
