ODM party has distanced itself from a recent attack at Jumuiya hotel in Kisumu.

The attack was conducted by youths who alleged that women attending a conference at the hotel were buying ID cards from locals.

Speaking on Sunday, Kisumu Woman representative Rosa Buyu condemned the incident stating that ODM does not condone violence against women.

Buyu added that the opposition party has stood for women and the party did not sponsor the attack.

The MP also appreciated the vigilance of youths, claiming that buying and selling of IDs is one of the weapons that Jubilee Party is using to try to win the coming presidential elections.

"And so our young men are vigilant to ensure that buying and selling of IDs does not happen in Kisumu but in that vigilance, we are requesting for tolerance and more investigation before more action is taken," Buyu said.

She further asked political leaders to stop creating or causing false alarms.

"When you send out messages informing the public that IDs are being bought chances are that young people who are vigilant will go out to ensure the process is stopped. Do proper homework before sending out any message to the public," Buyu said.
