The governor has refuted claims that the movement has become weak following the exit of some members.

The party has lost several leaders in various capacities including governors and members of parliament.

This comes even as the former prime minister and Cord Principal Raila Odinga looks forward to smoking Uhuruto out of office come 2017.

Joho said the popularity of any party depends on the people and not the leaders.

He assured party supporters that ODM still has the numbers,  adding that there is nothing to worry about.

“A party’s popularity is not measured by its leaders but by the people. ODM remains the most popular political party in Kenya. Those people who are leaving are free to do so. They can go wherever they want, but the party remains intact,” said Joho.

His sentiments come as the party prepares to hold a major rally at Tononoka grounds in Mombasa, on Saturday.

Junet Mohamed, the ODM director of elections, said that the rally, aimed at marking the rebirth of the movement, will be attended by various members of the party including MPs, senators, governors as well as MCA’s.
