The Leader of minority in the Nakuru County Assembly Daniel Ambale has refuted claims by a section of the opposition and Jubilee leaders that the Orange Democratic Movement party is headed for doom.
While speaking to our reporter, the Kaptembwa MCA, said that the wrangles that have gripped the party at the national and parts of its regional backgrounds were normal democratic instincts that cannot affect the party’s popularity.
“Party leadership and party support are two different things. One cannot affect the other because they are independent. Our support for the party is based on principle but not individual members or leaders,” said Ambale.
He clarified that supporters of the party were wary of outside forces using some selfish leaders to create a negative impression and were ready to support the party to the bitter end.
According to the MCA, the current initiative by the party leader Raila Odinga to put his house in order was positively geared at strengthening the party and the entire opposition in readiness for the next general elections and supported Odinga’s warning to party rebels to quit.
“Our supporters will work with leaders who are working for the party’s policies that are people driven. The party does not die with a few who want to work with its rivals,” added Ambale.
He was reacting to a recent claim by local party leaders that the party was headed for the rocks following wrangles pitying some elected leaders at the national level.
