Despite receiving a host of defectors across the country, the ODM party is yet again set to suffer another setback after Patrick Osero; a close ally of Raila Odinga announced his plans to cut ties with the party.
Osero, a top Borabu parliamentary aspirant, is also a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto and went to records when he claimed ownership of controversial Weston Hostel, which is closely linked with DP Ruto.
His defection comes slightly a day after Kisii County Women Representative Mary Otara, left the Orange party for Jubilee.
“It’s now confirmed because Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i shall receive him on Tuesday at Matutu. He has already made a choice,” said John Mogambi, Osero’s close ally.
Mogambi said: “It is his choice and as supporters, we respect it. After all I don’t think people vote in parties. In Kisii, we are more concerned with one’s performance.”
And his defection is a relief for renowned philanthropist Nyandoro Kambi, who has already paid nominations fees for ODM primaries.
In 2013, Osero, who contested on an ODM ticket, lost with a narrow margin of close to 1500 votes t incumbent Ben Momanyi of Wiper.
