Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has once again suffered a major blow in Western region, after Sirisia MP John Walukhe resigned as the party’s Bungoma Chairman.
Speaking at Mayuba Stadium in Bungoma County, Walukhe accused party leader Raila Odinga of sidelining western leaders, adding that this prompted his decision to quit office.
This comes barely days after Secretary General Ababu Namwamba, together with party Deputy Chairman Paul Otwoma said they had resigned from the party, citing frustration and sidelining of the Western region from the top officials.
Namwamba has now vowed to mobilise all Western Kenya ODM MPs to exit the party ahead of the 2017 polls, adding that this would deny ODM chief Raila Odinga the Western vote in the upcoming General Election.
There are talks that Namwamba is reaching out to some leaders from the region including the Ford Kenya Party, veteran politician Musalia Mudavadi as well as Moses Wetangula to join hands and form a united form from the region.
Namwamba, who is yet to officially tender his resignation as ODM’s Secretary General accused his party of giving him a raw deal by making him a ‘powerless’ Secretary General, and over the weekend insisted he will leave the party when he feels likes and won’t be forced out.
