Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka was the unprecedented hero, noted a group of Orange Democratic Movement supporters following his bold speech during Mashujaa Day celebrations in Machakos County on Thursday.
Kalonzo openly told President Uhuru Kenyatta to be ready for a defeat in 2017, and insisted that rebels from his Ukambani backyard would lose in the much-anticipated polls.
And in a rare praise at ODM Kisii County Youth League, Kalonzo who was recently criticised by the same supporters following his remarks that he was not ready to shelve his presidential ambitions, was the topic of discussion.
“I am shocked that he (Kalonzo) could give such a rousing speech. He has finally shown his character and from today, I will not label him a watermelon. He has matured politically,” said Brenda Omanga.
Other supporters Kennedy Omao added: “at some point, I thought he was heading to Jubilee and I am shocked that he could lecture Jubilee Party in front of its principals. That was really encouraging and honestly, I think he’s now fit to be president.”
However, most members of the group maintained that the Ukambani political kingpin should still play the second fiddle to Raila Odinga until the 2022 polls.
