The demos, which were otherwise peaceful, started from ODM offices before proceeding to county headquarters where police barred them from accessing IEBC offices.

The crowd kept on singing anti-government songs urging the commission to resign for the sake of the country’s stability.

Nyamira County youth chair Dennis marube confirmed his youth league will be engaging in peaceful protests every Monday and challenged Jubilee to join calls to have the commission disbanded.

“This is the second demo and we will do more of this every Monday till our calls are heard. We don’t want to go to elections with a commission with questionable credibility,” Marube said.

“It will also be fundamental if Jubilee joins us if they indeed believe in free and fair polls. This is for the common good of the country and not just the Cord coalition,” he added.

Country Women league ODM Chair Caroline Mogere also insisted on the need to have IEBC disbanded, saying it could no longer guarantee free and fair polls.

“This commission is compromised and every Kenyan knows their favoritism to the government. They have lost credibility and it’s for their own good to resin honorably or face our wrath. We will continue pushing for their removal,” she said.
