ODM supporters from Kisumu City have warmly welcomed Siaya Senator James Orengo's appointment as the new Senate Minority leader.
Orengo's appointment came after Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula was ousted from the position following sharp divisions in the NASA coalition.
"We as ODM supporters from Kisumu would like to congratulate Senator James Orengo on his appointment as the Senate Minority leader. Orengo has firmly stood with us not only as ODM but as the entire NASA fraternity.
"He is the right man for the job and we have much trust in him," James Odhiambo a staunch ODM supporter in the city said.
Many ODM supporters from the city termed Wetangula as a 'betrayer and coward' for not attending opposition leader Raila Odinga's inauguration ceremony adding that the outgoing Minority leader could not be trusted with the coalition's affairs.
"The whole country witnessed how Wetangula betrayed us during Raila's swearing in ceremony. Senator James Orengo stood with us, represented us in a series of court cases which he won and was present when Raila was taking the oath.
"We have no doubts in Orengo, his appointment as the Senate Minority leader is the best we could give him as a party," John Okello a bodaboda operator in Kisumu opined.
