Orange Democratic supporters have been urged to respect former National Secretary General Ababu Namwamba following his ten years of service to the party.
Kisii County Assembly Chief Whip Henry Moracha on Sunday defended his former ally from social media criticism by urging ODM supporters to cease from character assassinating of the Budalang'i lawmaker.
“I have been going through Facebook and even in some WhatsApp groups ever since Namwamba rebranded his new LPK and I think as ODM people, we are being too unfair to him. He served us well and decided to leave in peace,” said Moracha.
“I think it is proper if as ODM supporters we just respect him and avoid the online onslaught against him. It’s good to allow people try their luck elsewhere when they are ready to," he added.
He also challenged the party supporters to concentrate on popularizing the party by selling its manifesto to people at grassroots for increased membership ahead of 2017 polls.
“We should allow those who leave to go in peace. As party members, we have an obligation to rally for more grassroots support for our party so that we get more people on board for the purpose of winning 2017 polls,” he said.
Namwamba unceremoniously left the party citing frustrations from top leadership and subsequently joined Labor Party of Kenya where he was installed as party leader.
