ODM National Elections Board has suspended gubernatorial results for both Migori and Homabay counties that were announced, Tuesday.

Both incumbents, Migori governor Okoth Obado and Homabay governor Cyprian Awiti had been declared the winners in their respective counties after beating their rivals.

Awiti garnered 46,346 votes defeating his competitor MP Oyugi Magwanga who got 14, 661 votes in the nominations.

In Migori county, Obado won the contest by 110,142 votes against his competitor Ochillo Ayacko who had 59,449 votes. Ayacko however protested the results and declared himself the winner.

In a statement from the ODM secretary general Agnes Zani, Tuesday, the results in the two counties were suspended following the manner in which the release of results was handled.

“The committee noted with concern the manner in which the results were handled after voting. With this regard, the Central Committee approved recommendations of the National Elections Board to suspend gubernatorial results in the two Counties,” said Zani.

She added that a three-man member team was appointed to fact-finding and report to the committee immediately.

The team is led by the party’s deputy treasurer Timothy Bosire. The other two members are the National Assembly Minority Whip Thomas Mwadeghu and NEB commissioner Dominic Motindi.
