President Uhuru Kenyatta could be subjected to constitutional quagmire should ODM plans to deliver over 700, 000 votes from Nyamira and Kisii counties work.
Already, Jubilee strategists have earmarked the region as a tossup, a claim which ODM leader Raila Odinga dismissed last week when he visited.
In 2013, the two counties earned Kenyatta presidency after having garnered more than 25 percent to surpass the critical half of the counties constitutional threshold.
To affect the plan, the party has deployed youthful politicians who will be working with ODM stalwarts to down size Jubilee’s influence.
“We are working round the clock to ensure they do not even score 10 percent. That is our plan and it shall work,” said Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire.
The ODM treasurer added: “We have stationed a team of youthful strategists and politicians who will be doing mapping so that we roll out effective campaigns.”
Understandably, Kisii Governor James Ongwae and his Nyamira counterpart John Nyagarama will lead campaigns in which Bosire will be the overall supervisor.
And the Jubilee team led by Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i is also working around the clock to increase the President’s chances.
