A landlord in Nyamage, Kisii County, has served his tenants with eviction notices allegedly on grounds that they are supporters of the ODM party.
Mr Henry, a retired teacher, issued the notice on realisation that his apartment greatly constituted ODM tenants from Luo Nyanza.
He stormed the apartments armed with padlocks and asked the tenants to leave if they did not support Jubilee.
“You either support Jubilee or quit!” he yelled as quoted by the Standard.
One of the tenants, however, said that their disagreement had begun when he questioned the landlord over the huge amount of money they had paid for electricity only to receive few token units.
“I had only questioned the landlord on the large amounts of monies we pay for the electricity. I had paid Sh1 700 and was only given two units which is awkward!” bellowed a tenant.
The aggravated tenants have now vowed not to vacate the house on grounds that the landlord had breached the contract between them.
He (the landlord) then decided that he would use the Sungusungu group to evict them if they continue with their no-leave stance.
In reaction to the unfoldings, Ugunja MP who is also ODM party's secretary for political affairs Opiyo Wandayi has termed the landlord’s actions as uncouth said that they should never have happened in the first place.
He has also called on law enforcers to take the landlord behind bars for discriminating citizens on political grounds.
