The Orange party may be forced to call for a more than one-million man protest to agitate for the prosecution of individuals accused of looting the National Youth Service (NYS) money.
ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna said on Thursday that the opposition party's role is to check government and one of the ways through which it may force President Uhuru Kenyatta to act on NYS money looters is by calling for a nationwide protest.
Sifuna was speaking on Thursday during a political evening show on Radio Jambo hosted by Bramwel Mwololo.
"Sometimes the best way to deal with this is to call for protests," he said as he expressed anger over Uhuru's silence on the NYS scam in which the taxpayer lost a whooping Sh9 billion.
Sifuna, however, blamed the runaway corruption on Kenyans who he said have decided to remain silent as the country's coffers are looted to zero.
"Our biggest problem is that we have left the business of checking government to Raila. All Kenyans are quiet waiting for Raila to speak. And even if he called for action today, how many will turn out? You may only end up with the Sifuna's of this country," said the vocal politician.
He said it is the responsibility of all Kenyans to rise and ensure corruption ends in the country. He proposed that Kenyans stop paying taxes.
