Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party chairman John Mbadi has announced changes in the party notably nomination procedures to spearhead free and fair primaries ahead of the 2017election.
Mbadi who spoke in Kisumu County said nominations of the party have been acrimonious in Nyanza region where the party enjoys massive support.
“This is the hot bed of ODM party and all along our people have been taken through a system of nomination where the winner is not clearly determined,” he said.
The chairman said the changes in the nomination procedure will require that nomination exercise is conducted six months prior to the general election.
He said this will give the party organ time to hear complaints arising from the nomination exercise.
“The time will be enough for us to forestall any defection as the party organ hear complaints from candidates and mediate,” he said.
Mbadi said the party is committed to conduct a free and fair nomination across the country.
ODM nomination in the region in the last general election led to a fall out that led to the election of some legislators and ward representatives from other parties.
