Cord's presidential aspirants Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula have will not get ODM’s support unless they can prove their political strength.
The two are competing with ODM party leader Raila Odinga for Cord’s candidature ahead of the 2017 polls elections.
Wetangula has particularly called on Raila to step aside and support another person to be the coalition’s flag bearer.
And in a twist that may bring friction for the top seat contenders, ODM has told off the two leaders despite Raila’s indication that he will support anyone who proves to be strong enough to deliver the presidency.
John Mbadi who chairs ODM accompanied by other leaders said the party is preparing its leader to run against Uhuru Kenyatta as the leader has a better chance against the president in the 2017 elections.
“No one can match RAO when it comes to popularity, people and resource mobilisation and most of all the charisma,” said Busia Women Rep Florence Mutua.
Mutua, who is also the ODM deputy organising secretary was quoted by the Nation saying that Wetangula and Kalonzo are ‘regional leaders’.
Mbadi said the party has already embarked on marketing its leader and will work slightly out of the Coalition to popularise Raila’s bid for the presidency.
ODM Treasurer Timothy Bosire said Raila will tour all parts of the country including Jubilee strongholds to mobilise support.
