The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has said it will take action against politicians who engaged in a physical fight during Sunday’s rally in Homa Bay.
Party Chief Executive Oduor Ong’wen said they have identified eight politicians who caused the chaos during the rally, meant to commemorate the second anniversary since Senator Otieno Kajwang' passed on.
Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma and his rival Washington Ogaga are among the eight, who Ong'wen said will be summoned and grilled over the incident.
“We are going to summon those who caused chaos in the Homa Bay rally and punish them,” he said.
Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma and Hezron Mc’Obewa, a gubernatorial candidate seeking to unseat Ranguma, fled the scene after things got out of hand.
It took the intervention of party leader Raila Odinga to calm down the warring supporters of Kaluma and Ogaga, who hurled stones at the podium where top ODM leaders were sitting.
