The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party is expected to convene a special meeting this month to initiate the process of replacing Ababu Namwamba as the party Secretary General, party chairman John Mbadi has revealed.
According to Mbadi, their move to replace him has been necessitated by the fact that the Budalang'i lawmaker has deserted duty and defied the party's central management committee resolution that he resume duties within 7 days.
"The party did not want to rely on media reports that he has resigned from his position and therefore sought his confirmation in writing as required," Mbadi was quoted by a local news site on Monday.
"But because he has not communicated, the party will make a decision on whether to replace him substantively or appoint a member in acting capacity," he added.
The Suba Member of Parliament further said that the party may consider taking disciplinary measures against Namwamba and Sirisia MP John Waluke for violating the party constitution.
Nominated Senator Agnes Zani has been acting as the party's Secretary General since Namwamba's resignation.
