According to ODM chair of the National Elections Board Judy Pareno, the party came up with the amendments after witnessing a lot of challenges in the past.

"We have amended our constitution to stagger the nomination exercise. In the past, we used to do it in one day and this didn't accord us enough time to tackle the malpractice. We will now abide by the rules and those found to flout them will be disqualified," she said.

Pareno also said that the party has employed two security officers at each polling station to curb the 'men in black' incident.

"We have hired two security officers for each polling station. We will also publish a list of our members who are eligible to vote at every polling station. Those found in engaging in violence will be disqualified," she added.

In the new amendments, ODM will also ensure there is no space for favoritism and corruption at the polling center by sending presiding officers and commissioners.

Finally, she said only herself, Secretary General Robert Amunga and Executive Director Oduor Ongwen who will have the right to sign party nomination certificates.

These changes come in after witnessing violence in previous ODM elections and many aspirants expressing fears that the exercise may not be free and fair.

The ODM nominations will be held in April.
