Speaking during the ODM grassroot polls meeting at Aga Khan Social Hall in Kisumu on Friday, ODM National Election Board Official Peter Odoyo said they want the members back early to be in compliance with electoral requirements.

"We welcome them back, the central committee has approved the 12 month rule requirement. Before you contest, tell us that you are back and confirm with the IEBC," said Odoyo.

He added: "This party is open, it's a people's party. However, if you did stand down, we will require you to write a letter to us, so that we respond officially."

Odoyo said that the party has done civil education which is essential.

The civil education has been conducted in Siaya and Migori counties.

"We have covered the election process, the elections venues and financial aspects. We have sourced funds from the party members and from the party funding and from well wishers," he said.

He at the same time said that the violence in Migori happened at 9pm and elections were over at 5pm. He added that they had no control over the situation.

"Migori was our prototype and despite the chaos we have learned a lot of lessons in the mistakes made," said Odoyo.
