ODM secretary general Agnes Zani said the government is starving the electoral body in order to have inefficient polls to facilitate rigging.

“We are aware of a plot by Jubilee not to fund the purchase of electoral equipment hence preparing ground for rigging,” she said.

Zani also said the government is frustrating the election amendment act that was agreed and signed on, by both CORD and Jubilee to ensure that Kenyans get a free and fair election.

“We are aware of the plan by Jubilee administration, having sensed defeat in the next general election to try and recall the Elections Act and propose amendments which will kill the letter and spirit of the original amendments presented to both houses of the parliament by the Joint Select Committee on IBEC reforms,” she said.

In August, Jubilee and the Opposition agreed on a report that introduced new elections laws.

The report initiated the process of recruitment of new IEBC commissioners.
