The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has promised all aspirants that it will not issue nomination certificates without resolving the arising disputes.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Secretary General Agnes Zani said most counties have completed the primaries well but the contested results will be resolved before aspirants are issued with certificates.

Zani said the certificates will be issued to winners on May 3, 2017 at the Bomas of Kenya.

"Staying here will not yield any result, we need to sit down and have a way of addressing issues in our party. Let every camp nominate five people each and find a solution. Let us be patient as the party solves the issues," Zani said.

She made the remarks while referring to supporters of Taita Taveta governor John Mruttu who camped at Orange House in Nairobi, demanding the ODM ticket.

The governor’s supporters had vowed not to leave the site until their governor is handed the certificate.

Meanwhile, over 1200 aspirants have ditched their parties to vie as independent candidates, the highest number in history of Kenyan elections.

Funyula MP Paul Otuoma ditched ODM and will vie as an independent candidate for Busia governor post.

He claimed there was a plot to favour his competitor, Governor Sospeter Ojaamong, in the nominations,
