Former deputy speaker Farah Maalim has assured that ODM will clinch the Garissa Township parliamentary seat in the 2017 general elections.

The seat is currently being held by the leader of Majority in the National Assembly Aden Duale.

Maalim assured cord supporters that the Garissa Township seat belongs to ODM vowing to ensure that it is clinched in the 2017 elections.

The former Lagdera MP observed that Garissa Township locals were not satisfied with the current leadership saying that they will push to have the seat won by an ODM candidate come 2017 general elections.

“I want to assure ODM supporters that the Garissa Township parliamentary seat will be won by the Orange party come 2017,” said Maalim during a cord rally held at the Kamukunji grounds in Nairobi on Saturday.

The former deputy speaker said that residents were getting tired of rhetoric perpetuated by the area MP at the expense of development.

“Garissa Township locals want to see development they are tired with the current leadership,” added Maalim.

Meanwhile, Maalim has urged Cord co-principals to hold talks and decide on who will be the flag bearer for the coalition in 2017.

He said that time is running out at that they need to know the presidential flag bearer in readiness for the elections.

“My appeal is to Cord co-leaders to quickly announce our presidential flag bearer for us to start campaigns and strategies on how to win the 2017 general elections,” said Maalim.
