The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party will not extend submission of nomination papers past December 31st 2016, Elections Board Chairperson Judith Pareno has said.
The Orange party had extended the submission dateline from November 30th, giving many undecided candidates lifeline.
In her statement on Wednesday, Pareno said the move will allow the party plan for credible party nominations scheduled February next year.
“We have given them enough time and I don’t think we will extend the dateline again. We want to settle down and plan for party nominations that will be acceptable to all contestants,” she said.
“The party has received a lot of submissions from various contestants across the country; I believe the highest in our history. The burden now lies on us to conduct Fair nominations,” she added.
Party leader Raila Odinga has persistently insisted that the party will not favour any aspirant, adding that the party will not entertain chaos during nominations.
