Kwale Women Representative-elect Zuleikha Juma has pledged to ensure fair distribution and allocation of the Social Affirmative Action Fund to eligible groups.
Zuleikha who trounced Zainab Chidzuga to win the seat on an ODM ticket in the recently concluded general election, said she will ensure the funds are invested in the right projects.Speaking in Kwale Town on Thursday, Zuleikha urged women to apply for the funds and venture into business.“I want to assure Kwale women that their money is in safe hands and will be used to better their living standards,” said Zuleikha, as quoted by the People Daily. She also pledged to lobby for more money, arguing that the Sh7 Million allocated to each county under the Affirmative Action Fund is not enough to address challenges facing women and other marginalized groups. She further urged women and youth to be active and participate in different development activities in the county.
