Budalang'i MP Ababu Namwamba on Thursday took a swipe at ODM party leader Raila Odinga when he said the party no longer does not need him to remain relevant.
Namwamba who spoke in Nairobi said Kenyans need to stay away from the mentality that without some individuals, some parties would collapse.
He made the remarks in Karen when he relaunched the Labour Party of Kenya, a party that he intends to ride on in defending his parliamentary seat in 2017.
"We need to escape from downward mentalities that insist on conditioning our people that, Without Raila there is no ODM, that without Uhuru and Ruto, there is no Jubilee," he said.
"We must move away from parties built on personality cults to parties anchored on institutional identity defined by clear policies. Kanu disappeared with (Daniel) Moi, Jaramogi (Oginga Odinga) and (Kijana) Wamalwa existed with Ford Kenya as did Matiba with Ford Asili."
Namwamba quit his position as ODM Secretary General about two months ago after accusing some party officials of frustrating him.
He claimed some powerful ODM officials did not want to see him perform well his duties as ODM SG.
Since then he has been traversing the country marketing his 'Third Force' movement.
The movement intends to bring together the Luhya community ahead of the 2017 general elections.
He called on Kenyans to join the Labour Party saying: "The Labour Party is an issue based Party. It is a party bigger than the individuals in it."
