Youth allied to the Orange Democratic Party have warned the government against harassing the party Deputy leader and Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho.
Speaking during a press conference on Wednesday at the Orange House in Nairobi led by Student Organization of Nairobi University(SONU)Chairman Babu Owino,t hey vowed to mobilise all the young people allied to the party from all over the nation and hold a mega protest in solidarity with Joho.
''The government is clearly intimidating and harassing Joho because of his political stand and we ask it to stop immediately.Should the harassment not stop,w e will next week mobilize all young people from all parts of this country for a mega protest,'' said Owino who is also eyeing the Embakasi East constituency seat on the party ticket.
Joho has lately been on the receiving end from different quarters including the Kenya Revenue Authority and the police with his opposition side suspecting that his woes are a result of his fallout and verbal feud with President Kenyatta.
The President has since warned him threatening to teach him a lesson.
Joho is currently on the spot again over alleged forgery of his academic documents but has maintained that they are genuine
However, If found guilty Joho risks ineligibility to vie for any post according to the national polls body IEBC rules but he remains defiant saying that he will be on the ballot to defend his seat on August 8.
''As long as God grants me life, I will be on the ballot on August 8,'' he said on Wednesday, March 29 after a 2-hour grilling session by detectives over the allegations.
