Borabu ODM youth wing has started a campaign to sensitise residents on the manifesto of the party ahead of the 2017 polls.

The exercise is expected to cover all the five wards in the area with officials doing a translation of the party manifestos to the local dialect for easy comprehension.

Speaking on Monday during the official opening of the three-month exercise, the chairman Moseti Bwo’ Ngeri said the party was interested in breaking down the manifesto for easy comprehension to give residents easy time in doing comparisons ahead of elections.

He said the party believed in democracy and would not engage itself in a shouting contest to garner votes but instead, it was keen to guide residents make an informed decision.

“Our strategy this time is a bit different and it’s not only in Borabu. Our manifesto must be understood by residents before they make decisions. We have broken down every detail in local dialect for the older generation and other copies are in the national languages. We want people to understand before making decisions,” he said.

He said the branch was also ready for grassroots elections scheduled for the end of October and invited willing contestants to participate.

“I want to also invite those ready for leadership positions to get ready for the same. We are not going to stay in leadership forever and it’s important we have new faces that can bring ideas on board. We are against chaos and whoever will incite members during the elections will face disciplinary actions,” he added.

The exercise will start at Nyansiongo Ward before ending at Kibonyoru Ward in North Borabu with officials expected to hold road side rallies.

Esise, Mekenene and Gitaru wards will also be covered.
