The Orange Democratic Party (ODM) national youth league has called for the immediate disbandment of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) secretariat.
Speaking during their national governing council meeting in Nakuru, the league through its chairman John Ketorah said the IEBC secretariat should be scrapped and investigated.
Ketorah said that following the resignation of the three commissioners from IEBC, Kenyans must be told the dirty dealings that took part in the commission prior to, during and after the 2017 polls.
He added that only an independent audit can reveal the true rot within the electoral body.
“As the ODM youth league we demand the immediate disbandment of the IEBC secretariat and call for an independent audit which will tell Kenyans what actually happened with the 2017 elections,” said Ketorah.
At the same time the youth league supported calls for the remaining IEBC commissioners led by chairman Wafula Chebukati to resign saying that Kenyans have lost confidence in them.
“We also support calls for IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati and the remaining commissioners to resign from office to pave way for the creation of a new commission,” he said.
