Youths from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party have threatened to mobilise others for a countrywide demonstrations following Mombasa governor Hassan Joho’s 'harassment'.

They have given Jubilee government an ultimatum of five days to stop intimidating the ODM governor, failure to which they will proceed with the planned protests.

ODM Youth League Leader John Ketora while addressing members of the press at Orange House, said Kenyans were entitled to the freedom of expression as stipulated in the constitution and therefore cautioned the government against harassing those against its ideologies.

“We are not happy at all. We shall not allow this to continue,” said Ketora.

He further reiterated that the party’s youths were not happy with the way various state agencies were being used to harass the embattled governor.

“They have ethicised public institutions. The DCI, Knec and they have been turned into tribal institutions to harass and intimidate opposition leaders,'' Ketora noted.

On his part, Sonu chairman Babu Owino stated that the youth are not going to sit down and watch their leaders being intimidated without them taking any action.

“They may use all means within their power to try and stop this, but this won’t change Kenyan’s resolve,” said Babu.

“We shall not sit down and look at our leaders as that are harassed and distracted from discharging their duties. This we won’t allow,” he added.
