Mombasa County 2022 potential gubernatorial candidate Abdulswamad Sharrif Nassir, met President Uhuru Kenyatta in a rare show of unity.
The ODM's Mvita constituency MP shook hands with Kenyatta at Parliament buildings shortly after the president delivered his State of the Nation address on Wednesday.
The two who have been at political loggerhead until ODM party leader Raila Odinga pledged to work with Kenyatta, met and hugged each other as several other MPs watched.
Uhuru had preached peace during the address and asked for forgiveness to all those he offended.
Nassir's unity with Kenyatta comes even as he seeks to succeed Governor Ali Hassan Joho in 2022. The two are close allies.
"Nations are built when its people are reconciled for the sake of the Nation," said Nassir after the handshake.
