A source privy to ongoing health challenges of Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama says the ODM county boss is still under critical condition.
Following unending health challenges, Nyagarama left the country on Friday for medical checkup in the US with the family making it a closely guarded secret.
"This is to bring to your attention that I will be out of the country from May 10 2018 for medical checkup. You are advised to stand in for me," read Nyagarama's letter to deputy Amos Nyaribo.
Before flying to US, ODM leader Raila Odinga is said to have had a lengthy chat of phone with the second term governor.
And a family source says the 74-year-old politician's health has substantially deteriorated, sending panic within his immediate family.
"He has not improved according to those who accompanied him. Doctors are still doing various tests before carrying out any procedure on him," he said.
Coincidentally, his son, Ndemo Nyagarama, has also been condemned to Nairobi Hospital for the last three months.
On Monday, in his absence, Nyagarama was tackling an election petition challenge in Kisumu's appeal's court.
