ODM's Mombasa County Woman Representative Asha Mohammed Hussein, was on Monday arraigned in court for allegedly assaulting an inspectorate traffic officer.
Prosecution told the court that Ms Haasan was on duty controlling traffic flow at Majengo area when she was assaulted by the suspect, seriously injuring her on May 11.
She was admitted at Jocham hospital where she was admitted for two weeks.
The lawmaker allegedly attacked the victim beating her up, as she tried to instruct the MP's convoy to follow traffic flow to ease heavy traffic snarl-up that had build up around the Makupa round about.
The court heard that upon being stopped by the officer, the woman representative jumped out of the car and descended on the officer with slaps before her body guards intervened.
Appearing before Chief Magistrate Julius Nang’ea, the suspect denied assaulting Hassan, an inspectorate officer working in county traffic department.
The suspect's lawyer Paul Buti asked the court to release her on lenient bond terms, with State Counsel Erick Masila requesting the court to grant the suspect bond that commensurate with the offence.
She was released on a Sh100,000 bond with surety of a similar amount or on an alternative cash bail of Sh50,000.
The case will be mentioned on June 28.
