The date for determination of the petition challenging election of Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama shall be known on January 23rd this year.
Walter Nyambati of Jubilee had moved to Nyamira High Court to challenge Nyagarama's victory on grounds that elections were not free and fair.
On that date, counsels from both the petitioner and the defendant shall give final submissions before Justice James Makau makes his final verdict.
While Nyagarama believes that his victory shall be upheld, Nyambati has already started campaigns in hope that he shall carry the day.
The petition has attracted interest with both President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga debating openly about the case.
During the August elections, Nyagarama was a key points man of Odinga while Nyambati was a top Jubilee campaigner.
So far, in already concluded gubernatorial election cases, non of the governor has had his or her victory nullified.
