The late Shimo La Tewa Member of County Assembly (MCA), Bakari Ali Munyi, has been laid to rest.

The 57 -year-old Mombasa county lawmaker, died Monday May 1, evening in a bus, while traveling from Mombasa to Nairobi.

The MCA who is reported to have a history of heart related complications, was found with three painkillers in his pocket, upon his death.

Bakari was buried, Tuesday afternoon, in a ceremony attended by Kilifi governor Amason Kingi, among other politicians from the Coast region.

''May the Almighty accept all his good deeds, elevate his status among the guided people and grant him. I celebrate the incredible dedication he had to serve the people of Shimo la Tewa ward. The late Mheshimiwa Bakari Ali was a good and a faithful servant who put the interests of his electorates first,'' said Kingi.

He indicated that they would remember the late Bakari for his immense contribution in the Kilifi County Assembly legislation committee and for always being at the forefront in advocating for improved service delivery to the people of Kilifi County.

The late ODM lawmaker was seeking to defend his seat in the August 8, elections.
