An MP said on Friday that part of he plan is to convince the vote rich region to support a presidential candidate who will be fronted by the Orange party.

Mvita MP Abdulswamad Nassir said during an interview with a local television station that the Raila Odinga-led party is determined to ensure key leaders in Rift Valley including Baringo Senator Gideon Moi support the ODM presidential candidate during the polls.

"The Rift Valley is a vote rich area, there is totally no doubt about that," he said.

"And I have no doubt that the candidate that ODM will be able to choose come 2022 will be able to go round the country and sale himself. We will also be able to go to Gideon [Moi] and ask him to support us as well."

Nassir was among leaders who accompanied opposition chief Raila Odinga to Kabarak in Rift Valley on Thursday to pay a courtesy call to former President Daniel Arap Moi following his return from hospital in Israel where he had been flown to seek medical attention. Senator Moi received Raila during the visit.

Senator Moi who Nassir said ODM will be seeking his support during the 2022 polls has indicated he will contest for the presidency.
