Retired President Daniel Moi and opposition's National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga's political relationship has always been cold, stiff and rigid.

Odinga, actually, holds the record as the longest serving political detainee in Kenyan history, a record he made during the former President's tenure.

He was arrested and jailed for 6 years, without trial, over an alleged involvement in the 1982 failed attempt to overthrow Moi, a coup that was masterminded by Hezekiah Ochuka.

Odinga has since claimed that the detention has affected him severely, hence his eye problems, for being locked up in dark rooms for a long time.

The hostility further worsened in 2002 when Odinga threw in his all to see Moi exit the state house.

He crafted the "Kibaki Tosha" campaign, giving his all to ensure that Moi, who was defending his seat (KANU) is finally ousted.

Kibaki won, ending Daniel Moi's 24 year reign, with Odinga being awarded a ministerial slot in the government.

However, with politics being a dynamic game , where there are no permanent friends or enemies, Kenyans are looking at the approaching 2022 general eyes with their eyes wide open.

It will be interesting to see Odinga's reaction should Moi's son and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi declare his interest in the presidential seat.
