Corporal Stellah Eshitemi who is based at Kayole Police Station was being accused of allegedly asking for Sh10,000 from Mr Charles Angw’ana to release his brother Mr Walter Sila who was being held at the police station.
According to the prosecution, the accused person committed the offence on August 4, 2017, at Kayole police station in Nairobi County.
The prosecution led by senior state counsel Daniel Karuri further said that the accused person was facing a second count of receiving a Sh6,000 bribe.
The accused however denied both the charges and filed an application to be released on bail pending the next case hearing which the prosecution did not oppose.
Milimani senior principal magistrate Lawrence Mugambi granted the application and ordered that the officer be released on a Sh200,000 bond or a cash bail of Sh100,000.
The case will be heard on October 31.
