The number of uncollected Identity Cards in Kikuyu registration offices is worrying, according to the registrar Ester Waiganjo.
Speaking on Monday 30 at a Baraza forum held at Gikambura shopping Centre, Waiganjo said that Gikambura residents should collect their IDs from the area chief James Mburu.
She said that Kikuyu offices are open to everyone, and that all the residents without their ID cards should make a point of collecting them.
She further called out unregistered voters to collect their IDs and register as voters before the deadline.
“The registration process is now easy unlike before with no much documents required to register. There are also many adults who have not registered for their IDs in Kikuyu and they should do so.,” she said.
According to Waiganjo, elderly people with over 65 years and those living with disabilities cannot benefit from the cash transfer programme.
“Corruption cases should be reported to Deputy County Commissioner. Those who are asked for money so that they have their IDs produced should report to the police officers as well,’’ she concluded.
Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungwa who was also present urged the locals to collect their IDs, and that they should vote in their home area in the next general elections.
