A former AP was arraigned before a Nakuru court on Monday for allegedly defiling his 14-year-old daughter.

James Kiarie Gichu appeared before the Chief Magistrate David Kemei where he was accused of committing the indecent acts on diverse dates at Ngera Farm, Njoro AP Post charges he denied.

Through lawyer Ochang’ Ajigo, Kiarie told the court that there is a conspiracy to spoil his reputation since the matter has been outside court for the past two years.

“It is apparently true that the accused is being a target to have his life ruined. This is a 2014 matter and I wonder why the complainants failed to raise the matter until this day which has made him be interdicted for these malicious allegations,”

However, the prosecution told the court that the complainant who lives with her mother had been threatened not to speak out and was also embarrassed that her own father could do such an act against her.

The defence asked for a favourable bond terms saying that the accused is a civil servant within Nakuru and won’t abscond court proceedings if released.

He was granted a Sh200 000 bond and a surety of a similar amount. The case will be mentioned on August 8 to determine the hearing date.
