Speaking at Kamirithu Chief’s Camp, Edwin Njoroge said that he has started counselling sessions to help the youth in the area.

“I have been going around Kamirithu Location counselling the youth against the dangers of the drugs,” said Njoroge.

The officer said that drug abuse among the youth in the location is alarmingly on the rise, and seeks to help the youth lead a drug-free life.

“My intention is to cushion the youth from the menace. I have witnessed school going children using bhang in the course of my work,” said Njoroge.

He further noted that he would dedicate the better part of December holiday counseling the youth against the dangers of drug abuse.

“I want all the youth from Kamirithu to be free of drug abuse,” added Njoroge.

He added that the major contributing factors that lead the youth into indulging in drug abuse are peer pressure; escalating poverty levels and poor family back ground.

He however said that the war against drug abuse should not be left to government only but should be a collective issue of the society.
