Peter Macharia, the Administration Police commandant of Laikipia County who was in charge of police recruitment in Nakuru town, said the few number of women who showed up for the exercise clearly showed that.

Speaking to the press during the exercise, Macharia said it was saddening to see only 41 women turn up for the exercise.

"From what we have seen today, we can say that maybe Nakuru women are not so much interested in becoming police officers and that is why they didn't show up and that is saddening," said Macharia.

He called on Nakuru women to take the police job just like any other job such as teaching.

"Being a police woman is just like any other job like being a teacher or lawyer, and people, especially women must stop seeing this as a job for failures," he said.
