Kenya Power and Lighting Company has assured all those who had applied for connection that it will be done by the end of next month.
Speaking in Thika power offices, Anthony Njenga, who is the installation supervisor, revealed that customers who had been waiting for connection since late last year were assured connection by the end of January.
This however was not enacted due to delay in supply of installation materials that were in transit from South Africa.
“Customers who were promised installation late last year will receive their connections by the end of next month as materials we were waiting for are now ready and what is remaining is their release from the main office; next month we shall have connected electricity to all last year applications,” he said.
The officer further pointed out that plans are underway to reduce the cost of installation, having the jubilee manifesto that is steering the programme to ensure every homestead is electrified.
“We have plans with the government to reduce the cost of electricity installation as Uhuru’s government has made it clear to have every homestead electrified come 2030; the prices will continue going down I assure you,” he added.
Customers who have been complaining of the delay in installation were called upon to now wait for KPLC to attend to their wail, as the long wait for materials is over.
“Complains have been there since last year, we are sorry for the inconvenience we have created with our customers, but as per now everything is ready; wait us at your doors as we commence the job,” added Njenga.
