Hotel workers and owners in Thika town have been asked to adhere to the public health law to avoid getting into trouble with health authorities.
Speaking on Wednesday during an inspection of hotels, Public Health Officer in charge of Thika town Dennis Gathogo said many hotels in the town were flouting the public health requirements.
"We have realised that many medium and large hotels in this town have complied to many other things apart from some aspects of health," said Gathogo.
He added: "For instance, we have found some workers in some of the hotels without uniforms. Others have no medical letters among other things. We have given them and their employers two weeks to comply, failure to which we will take action against them".
Gathogo also noted that some hotels lacked appropriate waste disposal mechanisms.
"Some hotels are disposing waste such as food remains in open dustbins where street children come to ransack for food and in the process litter those areas", the health officer said.
He said the public health law must be complied with considering the number of people who visit the hotels for meals and drinks.
