A case in which a man and his wife are accused of assaulting their baby continued on Tuesday at a Kiambu Court where a children officer testified.
Thika Sub County children’s officer Rebecca Kariuki said the baby’s parents knew the child had 14 needles in her body but failed to inform the doctors at the Thika Level 5 hospital.
Ms Kariuki while testifying in court said that after the child was rescued from her parents, she personally visited the couple’s home in Kiganjo within Thika where the couple’s elder child revealed that the baby had needles in her body.
“The elder child revealed to me that the parents knew of the needles and that the baby kept crying throughout the night,” she told the court.
Kariuki added that two other children were immediately rescued and are currently living with their younger sister who was removed the 14 needles at Macheo Children’s home in Thika.
The case will continue on March 21 when two more witnesses will testify.
